progress..

After a stressful work week and staying very late at work Friday night (11 pm), i was pretty wrung out and spent most of the weekend on the couch but i was able to knit (while perusing a bunch of old movies and – dare i admit it – four of last week's General Hospital episodes, good trash to knit to!) and thus, accomplished quite a bit on the body of the Lace/Cable Cardigan.  As of last night, i had close to 10 inches done!!!

i did decide to do the body in the round even if it is cotton – i have done a few steeks and since the band has to be knitted on anyway, i am following in the path of several of the bloggers whom i read and being BOLD – or as Ms. Wendy would say – a Bad Ass Knitter [see Wendy Knits!]  So i will probably be asking for support as this is my first cotton steek, but i imagine i will have to haul out the sewing machine and use that instead of the crochet technique, but we will see.  This is one of those patterns where the front and back divide at the armholes – i dont know if i will do steeks for the armholes as well… luckily there is very little neck shaping – its a straight right edge collar and neck.

I am more afraid that it wont fit than of the steeks – but i figure i did my gauge swatch and measured and multiplied and… well after that i guess i have to wait and see.  of course with cotton – it will stretch anyway .  Not for me to do it just the way it is written!

i had to complete the project of taking apart the final two "tubs" from in front of the brownstone – i have a garden in the front yard of the brownstone where i rent an apt -even tho i am on the third floor.  i put it in in 2000 (started fall of 1999, it had been a realllllly bad year). but the landlords are fickle and just last month after having five tubs of roses and flowers for the past years besides the garden plot (80 square feet), they decided i had to get rid of the tubs.  its been a saga – i pulled the tendon along my knee last weekend working on the first three tubs – and then had to replant the remaining rose (i planted the other one last week) … so i did that sunday later afternoon – it was rather hot yesterday so i waited til it was cooler.  sigh.  oh well, at least i have something.  off to check on the replanted rose and then knit to several episodes of the new Miss Marple's on PBS.   i ADORE Geraldine McEwan and think she is making a refreshingly new interpretation of Miss Jane Marple – though i loved Joan Hickson's interpretation and the wonderful production values of the original dramatizations – longer episoides and full subplots allowed .  History of Miss Marple on TV if you want to know more!
